The underdog – Deed not breed.

This blog post has been a long time coming but a recent experience has encouraged me to write.

A few weeks ago while purchasing ice cream I was asked by another customer if my my dog “was even legal”. I was honestly gob smacked! It was the most bizarre experience as the couple were quite happy to pet James while James sat as accepting pets as gentle and smiley as he always is. 🥰

This question really hurt me. I replied by saying what do you mean is he even legal?, Of course he’s legal wouldn’t he be? The person then said well is he not an XL Bully. I said no he is a staffie. Meanwhile James is sitting looking up at them with his puppy dog eyes non the wiser of what they had asked.

Society have been unjustly stigmatizing this breed, along with other underdog breeds for far too long. I would love to see the stigma stop!

I wish people would educate themself before making passing comments or judgements like this.

The underdogs: The Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Doberman, German shepherd, Rottweiler, XL bully, pit bull, Bull terrier, Mastiffs and Boxers are all breeds that are tanned with the same “Dangerous dog title”. When it is not true. It needs to stop. I will always stick up for the underdogs. The ones who never get a break or gain a win to be seen for what they really are.

Deed not breed: there is no such thing as a breed that is by nature, bad or aggressive, and if any given dog is well treated, properly trained and kept under control, they should not be any danger to people.

Deed Not Breed promotes responsible dog ownership and is opposed to Breed Specific Legislation on the grounds that no breed of dog is inherently more dangerous than any other. “He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader.

Dog Attacks from any breed are prompted by humans. It is the owner and handler that are responsible.

About the Staffordshire bull Terriers; Staffies have the most amazing love, affection and loyalty. They are gentle and are called the nanny dog because they are so good with children. My family and I have had so much joy from owning this breed for 16 years! My staffies are my whole world! The media need to stop painting a false representation of our breed. I ask is this the face of a dangerous boy? 🙄 I think not!!
